A renovation project conceived to upgrade certain outdated amenities of the house. We played with a palette of natural materials; materials that are tactile; gentle and soft to touch, materials which age and tell time, and materials that play off the natural light. The rest of the surfaces were kept predominantly bare and neutral to draw focus to the crafted details of the objects that engage with the body of the user. We explored this through materials like wood, natural stone, and terrazzo. Not only do they clad onto surfaces but can also be moulded into forms. To be conscious of the existing we retrofitted and upgraded a lot of the furniture to create new heirlooms. The house is now a juxtaposition of the old with the new.
