area: 1200 sq.ft
location: Juhu, Mumbai

status: Completed 2023

For this project, we worked with a returning client moving into their second rental home in Mumbai, as they prepared to welcome their first baby. Since it was a rental, the focus was on creating a space that felt personal and functional without heavy investment in built-in furniture. The goal was to upcycle and adapt existing pieces from their previous home, blending them seamlessly into the new space while giving everything a fresh look.

We treated this as an upcycling challenge, reimagining old furniture with updated polish, paint finishes, lighting fixtures, and soft furnishings. Some pieces were dismantled and reconstructed to fit specific needs, such as creating furniture for the nursery. To add unique touches, we collaborated with Chacko to design custom tables using terrazzo and reclaimed wood.

The home also needed to function as a workspace. For this, we worked with Chacko to create a custom sit-stand desk, balancing ergonomics with aesthetics. A gallery wall was curated with art that told stories from the family’s travels, adding warmth and character.

Every element was designed to be flexible and movable, ensuring the space could evolve with the family’s needs while maintaining a sense of comfort and individuality.
